Survivor Focus

Our Commitment to be Survivor Focused

As Rotarians across Canada, we value community and inclusivity, and we are committed to ethically including survivor representation at all levels of service. RAGAS in Canada is sensitive to the trauma and experiences that survivors have faced as victims of human trafficking exploitation. The voices of survivors are imperative as we continue to learn, listen, and grow, so that we can be a part of affecting positive change here and beyond.

The survivor voice is crucial as we provide educational resources to clubs across the country, and as we make local community partner connections.  Human trafficking happens in Canada and it happens in your community. Together as RAGAS in Canada members and champions, we are committed to working alongside survivors and change makers, with respect, humility, and gratitude.  Join us as we commit to honour and include survivors in all we do to create positive change in Canada and across the globe.

Our Commitment to

Rotarians

We are committed to working with Canadian subject matter experts doing the hard work to help further raise awareness. We are also dedicated to helping to build connecting bridges for Rotary clubs across Canada where they can learn, listen, and grow as we seek to bring about real change in our nation.

Our Commitment to

Survivors

As a committee of Rotarians we commit to service with integrity, and to keeping the strength and dignity of those who have survived this horrific crime at the forefront of all we do. We commit to ensuring that there are seats at the table for those who have survived human trafficking exploitation, and to invite them to walk with us as we help communities across the country come together to make a positive difference.

Our Commitment to

Change in Canada

Our commitment to our country is to work with survivors, positive change makers, Rotarians, and RAGAS teams across the globe to raise awareness here at home. We are convinced that in order to see the necessary changes unfold, we must begin by ensuring that as many Canadians as possible, are made acutely aware of this terrible crime against humanity.

Our Survivor Ambassador
Meet Kelly Tallon Franklin

My name is Kelly Tallon Franklin, I am a survivor, and I am the founder of Courage for Freedom – a survivor led, community based, registered and incorporated charity with a mission to eradicate human trafficking and sexual exploitation of all persons.  As a proud Rotarian, I’m honoured to offer my support to RAGAS in Canada and to work with the team going forward as we strive to educate Rotarians across the country.

When Ragas in Canada (RIC) invited me to walk this journey alongside them, I knew it was going to be something I was interested in doing based on the mission to help raise awareness across the nation; believing with certainty that the only way to get this job done is to do it together.

Courage for Freedom and I work with many others doing the hard work here in Canada, and feel confident that my role will be well served. As a survivor, I am able to connect your club and your Club’s RIC Champion, to other Survivor Speakers as a means to help elevate your awareness and your knowledge of this horrific crime as you embark on your own project(s) to bring the change we so desperately need.
